The (most wonderful) Book Of Bedtime Stories
By Jeannette | November 29, 2013
We love books, absolutely love them. A snuggle and a cuddle whilst reading a book at bedtime is something I never take for granted, occasionally I might will it to hurry-up-a-bit but with a book like the one above, you’d want to take your time, to enjoy the illustrations and the stories.
This book arose from a competition organised by Walker Books, Mumsnet and Gransnet to find ten new and original bedtime stories by undiscovered writers. They received hundreds of entries and Michael Rosen began the difficult task of selecting his final ten. Once these were chosen, ten new artists were chosen to each illustrate a story.
The final collaborations are lovely and have resulted in a book to take pride of place on a shelf and be looked forward to at bedtime.
Each story is, in isolation, wonderful and collectively they are delightful.
My personal favourite is "Time For Bed", the story of little Noah resisting and resisting his bedtime routine until it was cuddles and snuggles and milk time. Something that can easily be identified with.

Congratulations to the Mumsnet/Gransnet members who had their stories included, they’ve all combined to produce a simply lovely book.
