Having Her Say #SSAmazingAchievements

By | November 20, 2013

It’s our Annual Statement Review meeting for D next week. A meeting where Hubbie and I sit down with D’s teacher and head of department and we all look at her Statement (of Special Educational Needs) and decide whether the contents are still appropriate, whether anything needs to be added and whether her needs are being met.

She’s been in her SN school for 3.5 years now and it was definitely the best decision for D, she couldn’t cope emotionally and physically within a mainstream environment and although there are days when I’m met with bolts, stomps and shouts, the good days far outweigh the not-so-good.

There is always a lot to read through and contribute in advance of these meetings and we received the final papers this week.

There were some additional papers in there for the first time, a contribution from D!

She has provided her insights in conjunction with her teacher and helped to construct the sentences and choose the pictures.

A big, positive step forward for our D and it’s so reassuring to know that (on the whole) she’s happy and enjoying being there.

That is good news. It’s great that she’s able to contribute to the information that you are talking about in her meeting.

I’m so glad she is doing so well and they have given her the chance to have her say. I feel we have to talk about our kids so much, not forgetting all the forms, and they are never asked their opinion.

Thanks for linking up with Small Steps Amazing Achievements :0)
