Mr Bluecrisps’ Top Tunes – a belated Birthday Music Monday

By | October 7, 2013

Today’s Music Monday is …..umm…377 days late!

Before Mr Bluecrisps had a BIG birthday last year, I asked him if he’d write down his top 50 tunes for a post. What with one thing and another – mostly life (!) – it’s only just been completed.

Cue my favorite TOTP theme (this isn’t one of his choices btw):

I’m going to list from 1-51 and am only including videos and his reasons why for the top 5, over to Mr Bluecrisps….

1. Hazel O’Connor – Will You

"The sax, oh the sax solo. It’s brilliant and Hazel’s voice on this track are just right, it makes you feel good, makes you remember good times"

2. ELO – Mr Blue Sky

"Always loved this, immediately you know the song makes you happy. Brilliantly performed and a reminder of good days"

3. Ultravox – The Voice (live)

"This wouldn’t have been in my top 20 until a few years ago, but having seen the group live a few times and felt the atmosphere, the song, the setting and the rockiness, it’s an experience not to be forgotten".

4. Lita Ford – Lisa

"Probably a surprise for J at this choice but a rock ballad with powerful words and very well expressed".

5. Midge Ure – (You) Move Me

"Although it’s not the acoustic version from the album in this video, this song has special words for J and I and brings back very happy memories of a very special day, this tune will always be in my heart. The acoustic version was played during our wedding ceremony".

It was quite interesting typing those choices for Hubbie, we have a lot of tunes in common, which meant we had a lot of duplicate CDs when we got together.
