That Friday feeling! 30th Aug 2013
By Jeannette | August 30, 2013
It’s been a nice end to the week, unexpectedly.
If I’d said to T and D this morning "right, we’re all going to be happy today, you’ll both help me in the garden this afternoon without falling out and we’ll all still be alright this evening" it won’t have worked, would it?
But it has, a combination of taking instructions slowly for D, sticking to the routine for snacks and meals, making it fun with a hose for them both and rewards after (chore money) has meant that what needed to be done, was and without a stomp/shout or meltdown. It probably helped that we found worms, centipedes, woodlice and baby frogs whilst gardening, it all added to the fun I guess!
The cats joined in too, alternately "guarding" the gate, puffing up their tail and spine fur at anyone or anything that walked past, protecting us and provoking a giggle too.
This time next week they’ll have both had their first few days in their new classes, with their new teachers, I hope it will feel as relaxed as it does now. But if it doesn’t, that’s understandable.
Like I say, we couldn’t have planned that today would turn out well, but I’m glad it did.
I’m putting a post together on SN parenting tips over the weekend, please let me have your top piece of advice you would give to a parent/carer of a newly diagnosed child/adult if you haven’t already. Those that have, thank you x.
I hope everyone’s had a good day, comments/RTs/shares as ever welcomed, thanks for reading Jx 😘

So nice to read about a good day 🙂
Piece of advice: don’t read everything you’re given straight away as it will blow your mind. Pick the issue you have the most concerns about and get help with that. One thing at a time till you feel more confident.
