Thank you Mrs Bucket

Regular readers of my blogs will remember that I touched on how puberty was affecting D so far, what I haven’t mentioned is that “things” have gone somewhat downhill since then and she is NOT coping with puberty and all it’s side-effects at all, I had to keep her off school yesterday as she was so emotional, angry, teary and cuddly about it all.

I didn’t imagine I’d still be having a 13 year old on my lap occasionally, one who is nearly as tall as me but when my daughter needs reassurance and cuddles in that way, I’m not going to deny her.

D has also taking to pacing – either in the garden or in the hall – and she’s loosing weight as a result.

So, something that would make her smile and prevent her from endlessly pacing was called for:

Together with chocolate, just because…

And it’s done the trick, she’s laughed at the antics of “The Bucket woman”, she’s imitated Onslow with his “oh nice!” and “chuff me!” sayings and she’s had cuddles on tap, which have been very much needed.

I’m in two minds about how to take things forward to make it easier for her, her previous treatment was under the children’s clinic and we’re not due to see them again until January (appointments are very hard to come by) or whether our GP can help, I’ve already had a preliminary chat.  One for my “to do” list on Monday.

If you haven’t watched Keeping Up Appearances before, you must, its an oldie but very funny and, despite D knowing virtually all the scenes, she still finds it very, very funny.

I’m grateful it’s brought a smile to her face today.

Which classic programmes do you like watching?

Hyacinth reminds me of my grandmother (appearance not personality!) so I love this show. If the weight loss seems extreme then push for an earlier appointment.

You sound like a wonderful mum, I’m sure that together you’ll get through this. I watched this as a teenager and found it very funny. My favourite character was Rose x
