Music Monday – David Bowie

By | January 11, 2016

There isn’t much I can add to the tributes for David Bowie.  I tweeted today that the words “legend” and “inspiration” are used too loosely these days but they describe Mr Bowie perfectly.

How to choose just one song for today? Hubbie remembers the chameleon-like changes and tunes of the Seventies, I was an Eighties gal.

Ashes to Ashes was my first TOTP memory and I was captivated by the song, the video and the clothes and the end where it seemed like he was being told off by his mum.   Then there was Just Dance and the China Girl phases, he was ever-changing, ever evolving and where he led, others followed.

But if I had to pick just one, it’s here, Dancing In The Street, a charity record with Mick Jagger.

They really seemed to enjoy making the video as much as people enjoyed watching it.  The funny little bottom wriggles and the doorway dancing always make me smile.

In a world where news can sadden and stun, as it has today, his music will live on.  Long after you and I do.  What an amazing legacy.  Thank you Mr Bowie.
