Happy Thoughts and my Word for the Week #WOTW #R2BC

By | December 10, 2015

This week has positively whizzed by, hasn’t it? A week in which we’ve all been reminded that whilst Mother Nature is beautiful, she can also be very unpredictable.  With so many people affected by the flooding in such a picturesque part of the country this close to Christmas, my thoughts are with them.

My word for the week is “Count Down”:

And here’s why (the R2BC bit):

1.  Smiles

After a very unsettled week last week for the children, smiles have returned.

D’s class went on a snow-tubing trip this week as their Christmas treat and our height-loving adrenalin-seeker absolutely loved it!  She could not wait to get down those stairs at the end of the school day and tell me all about it.

The smiles continued on Tuesday as she found out she’d got second place in a school competition to design a Christmas card:

T is far happier at school this week too, he’s visibly more relaxed and that’s a good sign for our teen who does build up his emotions during a busy school day.

They are both counting down to the end of term, big time.

2.  Silly moggies

Our cats always make us smile, but they’ve surpassed themselves this week.  Bitsey (who is now a veteran 9 year old) has taken to peering up the chimney and trying to eat the (artificial) Christmas tree.

Both the cats were at the bottom of it today, looking at it and looking at each other as if to say “do you reckon you can get up that without it collapsing?”.

We decorated the tree after school today, after it spent last night n a k e d (blushes) so as to get everyone (cats included) used to its position, hopefully it will still be intact in the morning….

3.  Football (!)

Oh my goodness, I have never talked or thought so many football-related things in my life!  I dip in and out of my Comms work during the day, emailing/chatting/drafting/publishing and then Hubbie comes home and we talk more!

We agreed tonight that Hubbie’s mum must be looking down at us at laughing away because we (she and I) used to roll our eyes together at the amount of sport the menfolk watched …. not that I watch it, it’s more the “behind the scenes” stuff. I’m enjoying it and, as I’ve said before, I’m appreciated and valued and that’s a really positive feeling.

4.  The “C” word

Yep, Christmas is a smidgen short of two weeks away, but that’s fine.  I’m not stressed about it at all.

I had to giggle at myself, I was washing up tonight (living that dream!) thinking “I need to replace the sponge/washing up thingy and I’d better do that before Christmas” and then wondering why on earth I thought like that because everything realistically is shut for ONE day and I can buy a sponge thingy anytime!

How’s your week been?

Lots of reasons to smile, and yes, the count down is definitely on, isn’t it? Well done to D on her card, it looks lovely. And yes, spongey things are available pretty much all year round! x Thanks for sharing with #WotW

Well done D on getting second place with her card – it’s a beautiful design and very well deserved. So glad that T has been happier at school this week too. Hope your tree manages to stay intact throughout the festive season! 🙂

The sponge thingy made me laugh!! I do that and don’t get why everyone feels the need to stock up so much…

I’m glad the little ones seem to have been more settled.
