Transition – Tues 14th July 2015

By | July 14, 2015

D’s school have moved very quickly with transition with regards to September for D.

We only found out her new class details yesterday and today she’s been to see her new classroom (always good that she knows the location in advance), met her new teachers and come home with a laminated sheet with Makaton symbols and pictures of the teachers, TAs and her fellow classmates.

It’s all been very positively met with D and the visual aspects have really helped her.  The sheet is something we can continue to use during the summer holidays to reinforce and remind her of the new arrangements.

I think we’ve been fortunate though, pupils who are joining other classes don’t seem to have had the laminated sheet to bring home yet, hopefully they will soon.

It’s made for a settled D today, she was able to go into school this morning and give a happy grin to one of the TAs who’ll be with her in September and, if we ask her if she’s happy (she obviously is!), we get an excited squeal as an answer.

Now that the sports day has passed, the Proms Week is over for another year and she’s happy with arrangements for September, I really hope that she’ll enjoy the run-up to the end of term.  Providing T doesn’t let it slip too soon that he finishes for the summer five days before she does – it will not be well met!

How lovely that D is so excited about the new school year. It makes the summer a whole lot easier on everyone 🙂

It sure does, she has a great visual sheet and her favourite TA and her are both really looking forward to September.
I don’t want it to pass by too quickly though! X
