Support and my #R2BC #WOTW

By | July 9, 2015

It has been an extremely eventful week, one in which I could have burrowed my head under the proverbial sand at the start.  But we’re nearly at the end of it, some issues resolved, others not.

Support has to be our one word to sum up the week, want to know why? With some cheerfulness thrown in?

1.  The Poop-Poop

Before you start thinking “eh? Jeannette’s been in the sun too much”, “The Poop-Poop” is our pet name for the family car.  Kind of an “Ivor The Engine” pronunciation and “poop-poop”!

The car decided to have a bit of a moment on Sunday and it was out of action until Tuesday morning.   There’s a mechanic that Hubbie’s family have used for decades and he sorted it out quickly and at a reasonable cost.  It’s good to know people like that, they say it as it is and are honest.

Not ideal timing for my self-employed Hubbie but it turned out to be a minor blessing in disguise because ….

2.  The Smart Phone that wasn’t

Hubbie’s phone also had a moment on Sunday afternoon too!  Talk about timing!  Instead of the relaxed family time planned, I spent most of it on my phone, arranging a replacement after going through everything with our service provider that I’d previously attempted to get the smart-phone-that-wasn’t working again.

A replacement arrived on Monday and – yippee – he was back up and running.  Can’t fault the speed in which a replacement came out and that was just as well because …

3.  No more mushroom!

I’ve mentioned before that Hubbie is assistant manager of T’s football team.  What I have kept offline is how he was treated by the manager.  Totally kept in the dark with regard to decisions, emails and texts weren’t answered and Hubbie was not copied into anything or any opinions taken into account.  He was treated like a lackey, someone to carry the team bag, ensure the boys were warmed up, go to meetings (and the manager wouldn’t turn up despite saying he would) and it was all very frustrating.

Every Friday evening, Hubbie would get apprehensive wondering if there would be a team for Saturday as no messages about absence were passed on.  He considered walking away at least twice this year but stuck with it because T was happy in the team.

On Monday, the manager stepped down and Hubbie is now manager.  It wasn’t too much of a surprise, it was very obvious that the outgoing manager’s heart wasn’t in it.

So…there has been a lot to catch up on (as things weren’t being done), some apprehension from parents as all the football clubs in the area are merging and it’s a lot of change for 12 year olds.

But the support shown to Hubbie by the club has been absolutely fantastic.  I get the impression that they weren’t too surprised at developments either.  I have been amazed at the others of help and guidance shown, the people (who are do this in their own time, unpaid, like Hubbie) who have texted, emailed and called, all with concrete help going forward.

I’m pleased that Hubbie is now fully in the picture and appreciated.  It’s been really busy and I’m co-ordinating emails, rosters when people are away, getting kit and equipment itineraries sorted and generally trying to make it all as easy as poss for my Hubbie, who still has to run his one-man business on top of all this!

So, no more being kept in the dark and fed **** like a mushroom.

4.  Calmer times

Oh gosh, D still has her anxieties this week but she is so happy that all her Proms performances are over.

I have heard a tiny snippet with regards to her class in September and, it’s a relief to put it mildly!  She will have continued support in there, her first year in SN secondary.

T is mega, mega tired with the onset of the end of term, just ploughing through.  The little shy smiles are less frequent but they’ll be back in the holidays.

5.  Wellbeing

I have a couple of niggles which I need to sort before the holidays.  Assuming I can get in to see my doctor, she is always a great support and I hope that these niggly bits (stress-related I think) are sortable.

6.  Furrball or Purrball?

And lastly, both our cats seem to be trying out for the team too.  Bitsey has been showing off her goal-keeping skills with plastic play balls, whilst Itsey has been passing and flicking bits of moss around, blown down in the wind.  She, unfortunately, has shown an element of hand (or paw) ball though!

Well, a mixed week, definitely.  One I don’t wish to repeat anytime soon but there have been definite positives and we are moving forward.

So glad D has been calmer. I’m also happy the football club manager left and your hubs is now the manager. It will be a much-needed improvement for the club I think.

Thank you, it’s a relief about the football (to put it mildly) and I didn’t anticipate I’d get this involved but it’s for him and our T.
Have a lovely weekend 🙂

I think the end of term is always a bit stressful-so much going on and tiredness too. Good new about the football team-that must have felt stressful too not knowing what was going on. And doesn’t technology (and in this I also place cars) have the most amazing ability to throw everything into confusion! x

It sure does, it’s only when something isn’t working that you realise how much you rely on it.
It’s all onwards and upwards hopefully! Enjoy your weekend x

What a week! Eventful, to say the least. I hate car troubles, so disruptive, though I’m very lucky as my dad has a garage, so it’s not hard to get it sorted, and at a good price! I do hope next week is calmer and I hope the football team can go from strength to strength now x Thanks for sharing with #WotW

Thanks Jocelyn, me too. At least we can look back and say – the poop-poop is okay, phone working and better communication re the team. It’s all positive, even if it hasn’t felt like it at times!!
Have a fab weekend x

What a week! I hope the last week runs smoothly for you. I know how difficult it is, when the routine is all to hell, especially for our children. I hope your niggles are sorted quickly, and stay off google!! lol xx

Thanks, it did make me chuckle how things seem to link into each other, although it seemed a bit “what’s next to go wrong?!?” at the time.
Hope your Sunday is going well 🙂
