The Return – Thurs 2nd Oct 2014

By | October 2, 2014

Even though it’s been nice to have a few days with D, following her trike fall on Friday, despite her injuries and our GP/hospital visits, it was time for her to go back to school.

She was missing the routine but obviously I had to be sure that there were no fractures or build up within her nose (which was confirmed yesterday) so, a happy D positively bounced into school this morning.

She had been missed and quite a fuss was made of her before we got to class – which she liked – and more inside her classroom. Any anxieties she’d had last evening about more accidents forgotten, thank goodness.

We also took her poster in because she’s been nominated to stand for House Captain, with all the pupils voting (which hopefully will be managed as those not voted in will naturally be disappointed). Each candidate was asked to design a poster and this is the back of D’s (I can’t share the front as it gives details):

D composed the sentences and wrote the words herself, including spelling out “because” using this method of remembering:
Big
Elephants
Can’t
Always
Use
Small
Exits
which she learnt in class last year and it was fab to watch her writing and saying the little rhyme.

D’s enthusiastic mood continued at home time, I had been a bit worried she might run at me and risk bashing her (still) fading bruised nose but, luckily, she was already in reception and really keen to chat about her day. Everyone had been “really kind and pleased to see” her.

T was happy to see us when he got off the school coach too, routine restored. He has done very well this week, he’ll go towards her and then be aware of her nose and take it into account, his consideration towards her has been very touching to see.

It’s gone better than I could have imagined, very glad routine has returned, I hope everyone’s day has gone well Jx

Thanks, it was a good one. I think the voting is Tuesday. I think, D being D, she’ll be very pleased for whoever becomes a house captain 🙂
