Achieved – Tues 30th Sept 2014

By | September 30, 2014

There’s been some challenges put D’s way today, all necessary and part of getting her back to full health and school. She’s passed them all, I’m so pleased to say.

First up, was an appointment to check her nose was healing as it should be. Luckily the nurse we saw was very SN-friendly, in fact she has a child at D’s SN school too, so knew exactly the approach that would work with D. That of gentle, positive reinforcement.

The bruising and swelling have gone down a lot but she’s referred D for an X-ray, just to be on the safe side. So, we’re doing that tomorrow. Potentially, back to school and routine on Thursday.

Next up it was getting her glasses seen to. They (and her helmet) definitely prevented more serious injury but they suffered in the fall. A visit to my opticians (not the SN one D normally visits) and they were straightened out (I had bent them back initially). D was used to going in there with me for my glasses and it’s never busy in there, she did extremely well, with the aid of Minecraft.

Talking of Minecraft (which D would do all day if she had the chance), we also picked up a couple of new books, which now means that her and T have the strategy/combat/red stone and something-or-other-else books each, which – believe me – will save a lot of squabbling. Their initial promises to “share” them have not come to fruition at all and this will make things a little more harmonious.

And we didn’t take her buggy, instead getting the bus there and back, which meant we could sit at the back of the bus) which she loves).

But the major thing today is this:

She overcome those fears following the fall and got back on her trike!.

Well done D!

T, bless him, has had a good day too. He seems very considerate of D at the moment albeit a tad miffed that he still has to be at school whilst she’s off. He’ll be happy when she’s back too.

I hope everyone’s day has gone well Jx

Getting back on the trike after a fall is a really big deal, we’re all nervous when it comes to things like that, so well done D! It sounds like she had a really good day. Siblings are always miffed when the other one gets a day off school 🙂

Thanks, mega pleased that she got back on it. There is a lot of sibling angst over sick days/inset days/anything really!

Thanks, it really helped that the nurse was SN-aware, made such a difference 🙂
