What’s in a ringtone?

By | June 27, 2014

One of the things I absolutely love about my phone (even though it is running out of memory drastically, I’m waiting until prices come down a bit before I upgrade) is the fact I can assign not only snippets from my favourite songs as ringtones but I can only personalise for different people. That was quite good fun choosing those.

So, for example, Hubbie has a bit of a cheeky (not rude!) ringtone, a song we both like and one that if D hears as a song, will instantly say “that’s Dad phoning you” and so on.

A family member I don’t particularly get on with has an alarm ring tone and thankfully that doesn’t ring too much (phew!) and then I have my all-time favourite dance-like-you-won’t-stop song as a general calls tone.

I was in Costa the other day and the customer’s phone next to me kept going off, fair enough but I found their ring tone really enjoying, it was the James Bond theme, not a theme song but the “da nah nah nah na” etc, on and on…

Part of me thought “grr, answer your blooming phone or if you don’t want to speak to them, stick it on silent” and then another part remembered how I don’t particularly like James Bond films for their sexism and how just one smirk or raised eyebrow from the hero would make people powerless but to well, obey (putting it politely).

Then I wondered if I was annoyed at the fact that the phone kept going off, or the ringtone and felt a bit guilty because I was pre-judging because I didn’t particularly care for the theme song.

Which is something I strive for when I blog, acceptance and not pre-judging initial impressions.

Anyway, each to their own and in case you were wondering what my dance-like-you-won’t-stop song is, it’s this by Dead or Alive. Totally high tempo but I love it.

If you could choose one song as a ringtone, what would it be?

Fab! My ringtone is the Game of Thrones theme tune! Not really sure what that says about me…but I have to agree with you about people putting it on silent! Thank you for linking to PoCoLo 🙂 x

Thanks lovely, never watched Game Of Thrones (or heard the theme song) but going to put that right! Keep hearing how good it is x

I have mine on vibrate mainly so I can ignore discretely, although I have assigned daft photos to everybody, they always make me smile when people ring! #PoCoLo
