True Love #MagicMoments #WhatsTheStory
By Jeannette | June 1, 2014
I’m normally better organised when it comes to birthdays and anniversaries. Cards and presents are bought and wrapped in advance, all ready for the “big day”.
We had a “big day” of our own at the end of last week, our wedding anniversary. We got married on the second anniversary of our first date, so it’s 12 years married and 14 years together and blimey, it’s gone fast!
I’d usually have shopped for cards and “stuff” in advance of half term but I wanted T and D to choose their own cards for Hubbie and I, they enjoy doing things like that, T goes for 11-year old humour (if it has the word “f a r t”, there’d have been a giggling T on my hands) and D loves glittery, pretty cards. It would have been fun.
Unfortunately we didn’t get anywhere near a card shop because I was ill all last week (and am still not 100% now), so any thoughts of a Clintons trip went out of the window.
It got to Friday and, with Hubbie safely at work, we got the craft box out.
Some unused Christmas cards were papered over and we all got to work, each having free rein on some anniversary wishes.
T’s card was full of “YOLO”‘s, his favourite saying and lots of expressive writing, a reminder that our little man is growing up fast.
D designed her card completely by herself, she asked for help with spelling of “true” and “anniversary” but we were both blown away by her card.
It’s a picture of Hubbie giving me a “rose at sunset”, totally all her own work. She has lovely details in there like Hubbie’s glasses and a purple dress for me, as she knows purple is my favourite colour. The glittered letters at the top were her idea too and the exclamation mark!
D finds hand writing a challenge but did so, so well inside the card. She struggles with free style writing but always enjoys writing in a card. We were both so impressed with the card a design and its contents.
Definitely a one-off and, I think, so much nicer than anything we could have found in a card shop.

What an adorable card! Your little one certainly has talent. It’s best anniversary card I’ve seen, better than any store-bought! You must be so proud 🙂 #whatsthestory.

Oh what a fabulous post Jeannette and Happy Anniversary! The card is just wonderful, how well D did. Great she’d designed it all herself too. Thank you for sharing with #whatsthestory

We make quite a lot of cards as French ones are not very inspiring and VERY expensive. I love receiving a handmade card too – it feels even more special. Happy anniversary and I hope you are fully better very soon.

Thanks Rosie, feeling (I guess) 75% now. I agree, hand made cards are just so much better aren’t they 🙂

Happy Anniversary X. I love D’s card, I can’t wait until we are ready to be able to make homemade cards. We also got married two years after first dating, just over. We have been together 8 years now and it’s our 6th anniversary in July, time really does fly!
Thanks for linking up with Small Steps Amazing Achievements :0)
